Alexia Lockhart Q & A

Updated: Mar 29, 2019

What is your name?

I write under Alexia Lockhart.

When did you first realise you wanted to be a writer?

At college.

What genre books do you write?

Romance, erotic romance, and cross genre mirroring real life.

What is the name of your book/books?

The wildflower series: Becoming Wildflower, and Wildflower Becoming His.

Were there alternate endings you considered?

No, because they mirror life.

If you could tell your younger writing self anything, what would it be?

To listen to your friend Ron, especially when he tells you to never give up writing. And never let him drift away as time is precious.

Does your family support your career as a writer?

Yes, my 11-year-old is also a writer. And my first book started as a Christmas present for my husband, he persuaded me to work on it more to be able to sell it.

What’s the most difficult thing about writing characters from the opposite sex?

I didn't have an issue as they were based on people i knew.

Does writing energise or exhaust you?

Exhaust me especially becoming wildflower which I'm currently editing as it brings up so many memories, including bad ones. Wildflower becoming his energised me as it got me very aroused as i wrote. I prefer writing romance bit sometimes you need to go deeper.

What items do you surround yourself with when you write?

Every book i write has a playlist, so i listen to it while writing to engulf me into the story, my laptop and a notepad to make sure the timeline stays accurate etc.

What is your favourite genre of books to read?

Romance.

What is your favourite childhood book?

Kingdom by the Sea.

Do you have a favourite author or one who inspires you to write?

Robert Westall.

What words of wisdom would you give to someone who wants to be an author?

You have to enjoy it. You may not succeed on making money but you have a message to give. Wrote for that reason, anything else is a bonus.

Imogen, is a feisty young woman, working to fund her studies. A talented dancer studying BSc (HONS) in Dance & Movement Studies and English. She had struggled with love, but still believed in love, but was afraid to let anyone in. Her feisty façade to hide a scared young girl lacking confidence, afraid to love. Marcus, a single young man, quiet and mysterious. He catches Imogen’s eye, something about him makes her take risks. Leading to a romance interlaced with erotic scenes touching on aspects of BDSM. Their relationship takes many twists and turns as Imogen learns to let him in, discovering feelings she’s never had before, and learning to love. Their relationship also challenges Imogen to take a journey of self - discovery, looking at how her past has shaped her emotions, affecting her ability to let someone in, to be able to trust. Can she learn to trust and rely on someone else?

Music features highly in her life, so much so the novel has a soundtrack of suggested songs relative to the story, which can be found on the website.
