What is your name?

James E Griffiths

When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer?

When I was very young, probably around 7 or 8.

What genre books do you write?

Science Fiction at the moment but I will be looking to write science fantasy in the future after my current project is finished.

What is the name of your book/books?

Flare, it’s a new adult light science fiction.

Where there alternate endings you considered?

Well originally Flare was going to be one book but the characters and the sport just couldn’t be covered in one book. As for endings not really any other alternates considered.

If you could tell your younger writing self anything, what would it be?

Write, write and write.

Does your family support your career as a writer?

Yes, I am fortunate that my family both by blood and those I consider family are always encouraging my creative mind.

What’s the most difficult thing about writing characters from the opposite sex?

Trying to get the whole female attraction down, as a man easy enough but writing from a woman’s point of view in terms of attraction was quite challenging.

Does writing energize or exhaust you?

Both, I get energized writing until my eyes can’t take the strain of being open any more.

What items do you surround yourself with when you write?

When I settle down to start work on my story I have three things with my, my phone for quick Google searches, some munchies and a fresh cup of strong white coffee with no sugar.

What is your favourite genre of books to read?

I would say probably YA fantasy.

What is your favorite childhood book?

Dracula.

Do you have a favourite author or one who inspires you to write?

Well my favourite author would be Bram Stoker. But who inspired me to write would be Gene Roddenberry.

What words of wisdom would you give to someone who wants to be an author?

Do it, we all have stories but some of those stories only you can tell so write it and someone will read it.
