When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer?
I’ve always loved to read and when I was younger I wanted to be a female version of Roald Dahl, I was forever making up poems and writing short stories, but it wasn’t until around three years ago that I started to secretly write a full story.
What genre books do you write?
Romance.
What is the name of your book/books?
Perfect Strangers and Dangerous Dancer Part one, with part two due out within the next month or so.
Where there alternate endings you considered?
No. I planned these from the start. Strangely, my final chapter for both stories was written before the first chapter.
If you could tell your younger writing self anything, what would it be?
To have faith and courage and most of all have belief in yourself even when others are laughing at you. Don’t give up.
Does your family support your career as a writer?
Most of my extended & distant family are still unaware of my writing journey, but those that do know are supportive.
What’s the most difficult thing about writing characters from the opposite sex?
This may sound weird to some, but I actually find it easier to adapt and write in the male character than the female. I don't find it hard at all. I also find readers are less judgmental of the male POV seemingly allowing them to get away with a lot that a female character wouldn’t be able to get away with.
Does writing energize or exhaust you?
Depends on the plot line and the intensity of the character. I’m in the process of writing a series of stories which are only available to read on the Wattpad platform right now, about four brothers. Colt, the eldest brother was very draining to write due to the complex storyline and the intense nature of his character.
What items do you surround yourself with when you write?
An alcoholic drink, a chocolate bar, and my imagination. What more do I need? lol
What is your favourite genre of books to read?
Romance and I love a good thriller.
What is your favorite childhood book?
Flowers in the Attic by Virginia Andrews.
Do you have a favourite author or one who inspires you to write?
Yes, Virginia Andrews. I love her style and her flair.
What words of wisdom would you give to someone who wants to be an author?
Don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t do it because you can. You can do anything you set your mind to. Plot out your story with a beginning, middle and end, then let your fingers and imagination do the rest.
